Paint Correction In Sedona, AZ

Swirls, scratches and oxidation removed from the clear coat itself — not hidden under a glaze that washes off.

Paint correction is machine polishing that permanently removes swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation and water spot etching from your clear coat — as opposed to filling them temporarily with wax. Pro Star Detailing offers one-step and two-step correction at your location in Sedona and throughout the Verde Valley, and we always measure and test a section before committing to a process.

What Paint Correction Actually Does

Scratches and swirl marks are physical grooves in your clear coat. Light reflects off their edges instead of bouncing back cleanly, which is why they flare under direct sun and disappear under cloud cover. Correction levels the clear coat around those grooves using abrasive polish and a machine polisher, so light reflects evenly again. Because we are removing a measured amount of clear coat, this is not something to do casually or repeatedly — which is why we check paint thickness first.

One-Step vs. Two-Step Correction

Deep scratches that catch your fingernail have gone through the clear coat and cannot be polished out — they need paint repair. We tell you honestly which category yours fall into before you pay for anything.

Why Verde Valley Paint Needs It

High-altitude UV

Sedona sits above 4,000 feet and Flagstaff above 7,000. Thinner atmosphere means more UV reaching your clear coat, and oxidation shows up faster than it would at sea level.

Hard water etching

Well and municipal water across the Verde Valley is mineral-heavy. Left to dry on hot paint, those minerals etch rings into the clear coat that only polishing removes.

Automatic wash swirling

The single most common defect we correct. Tunnel brushes install a uniform web of fine scratches that only show in direct sunlight.

Red dust abrasion

Wiping dusty paint with a dry towel drags abrasive iron-rich grit across the finish and marrs it.

Paint Correction FAQs

Everything you need to know before you book.

The correction itself is permanent — that clear coat damage is gone for good. How long the finish stays flawless depends entirely on how the vehicle is washed afterward. Pair correction with a ceramic coating and hand-wash maintenance and it holds for years; return it to a tunnel wash and swirls come back within months.
No, and anyone who says otherwise is overselling. If a scratch catches your fingernail it has penetrated the clear coat and needs paint repair, not polishing. We assess and tell you exactly what will and will not come out before starting.
When done correctly, yes. We measure paint thickness with a gauge and start with the least aggressive combination that gets results — this is why test sections matter. Removing too much clear coat is irreversible, so we are deliberately conservative.
It is the logical pairing. Correction gives you a perfect surface; a coating protects it. Applying a coating over uncorrected paint permanently locks the existing swirl marks in place under the coating, which is the opposite of what you want.
Yes. We work at your location throughout Sedona and the Verde Valley with our own power. We do need a shaded area or a garage — polishing in direct Arizona sun causes products to flash before they can work properly.
