Ceramic Coating In Sedona, AZ

Real UV and chemical protection that bonds to the paint — built for Arizona sun, not for a bottle's marketing claims.

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your clear coat and cures into a hard, hydrophobic layer. It resists UV fading, makes contamination far easier to remove, and lasts years rather than the weeks you get from wax. Pro Star Detailing applies coatings at your location in Sedona and across the Verde Valley, always over corrected and decontaminated paint.

How Ceramic Coating Works

Wax sits on top of your paint and washes away within weeks. A ceramic coating bonds to the clear coat at a molecular level and cures into a semi-permanent glass-like layer. That layer takes the UV exposure, the bug acid and the mineral deposits instead of your paint. It also lowers surface energy dramatically, which is why water sheets off and why contamination struggles to grip in the first place.

Why It Makes Sense in Northern Arizona

Extreme UV load

Elevation plus roughly 280 sunny days a year is a punishing combination for clear coat. A coating's UV inhibitors take that hit first.

Hard water everywhere

Mineral-heavy water spots less aggressively on a coated surface, and what does land wipes off before it can etch.

Red dust and monsoon grime

Low surface energy means dust and mud release with far less contact — and less contact means fewer swirl marks over the vehicle's life.

Bug and sap acidity

Summer bug splatter and pine sap are acidic. On uncoated paint they etch within hours in the heat; on a coating they sit on the surface until you remove them.

Preparation Is Most of the Job

A coating locks in whatever is underneath it. Applied over swirled, contaminated paint, it seals those defects in for years. That is why every coating we install is preceded by decontamination and paint correction appropriate to the vehicle's condition. The application itself is a small fraction of the labor — the preparation is the service you are actually paying for.

  1. Decontamination

Iron removal and clay treatment so nothing is bonded to the surface.

  2. Paint correction

One-step or two-step depending on condition, so the coating goes over corrected paint.

  3. Panel wipe

A solvent wipe strips all polishing oils — coatings will not bond correctly if any residue remains.

  4. Application and levelling

Applied panel by panel and levelled within the product's flash window, under controlled lighting.

  5. Cure time

The coating needs to stay dry while it hardens. We tell you exactly how long before the vehicle can see water.

Ceramic Coating FAQs

Everything you need to know before you book.

Depending on the product tier and how the vehicle is maintained, typically two to five years. Longevity depends heavily on wash technique afterward — hand washing with pH-neutral soap preserves the coating, while automatic washes and harsh degreasers shorten its life considerably.
No, and that is the most common misconception. A coating makes washing dramatically easier and less frequent — dirt releases with far less effort — but the vehicle still needs regular washing. What it prevents is contamination bonding and etching between washes.
It adds meaningful scratch resistance against light marring and wash-induced swirls, but it is not armor. Rock chips and deep scratches still happen. For genuine impact protection you need paint protection film, which is a different product.
We can, but we generally advise against it. A coating locks the surface in as-is for years, meaning existing swirl marks and etching stay visible underneath. If budget is a concern, a one-step correction beforehand is a better use of money than a higher coating tier over bad paint.
The vehicle can usually be driven the same day, but it needs to stay dry for the initial cure — typically 24 hours, longer for some products. Full hardness takes several days, and we advise waiting about a week before the first wash. We give you exact timing for the product used.
